Hi, I’m Michaela! I graduated from the University of Alabama where I received my master's in Advertising and Public Relations. In 2019, I received my bachelor's in communication from Mississippi State University with an emphasis in public relations.
My journey in PR started when I was introduced to how communications and PR worked when interning at NASA in high school. Growing up in Huntsville, I was constantly surrounded by science and engineering, as workers of NASA, government contractors, and the military worked in the area. Science and innovation has always piqued my interest. I interned Dynetics, which furthered my experience in the DOD and aerospace industry.
In 2020, I interned remotely for Johnson & Johnson as a Global Communications Intern in Consumer Health R&D, where I learned about the science, research, and innovation behind consumer products we see daily. I developed a campaign, drafted articles, and promoted virtual events.
In 2021, I served as the communications manager for UA EcoCAR where I learned how communication works in the automotive industry through the EcoCAR Mobility Challenge. In graduate school, I also worked as an internal & executive communications intern at Lenovo (remote) where I wrote internal stories, develop social media content and the Intern Social Media Influencer Program, and assisted with employee resource groups.
Now, I am currently in my second rotation of the two year Communications Leadership Development Program (CLDP) at Pratt & Whitney.
